it was 2010 when i first came to this website.
it was the day after the memorial.
i swore i would never attend another memorial, ever.. my father had called me a few day prior to that memorial and encouraged me to go.
Good for you for falling a little further from the tree. (the illustration of not being the carbon copy of your dad) You never know how much a family situation can influence a child's perspective in life. Finding out that your father isn't your biological one, can rock your world and turn it upside down. So who knows what thoughts drive your dad.

Either they are burning a german shepherds head up in the fire or an upside down cows head. (yes there is the two of them) There is a lot of weird painting going on. To me it looks like they used a program to simplify the photo and then retouched with small detail. Or they repainted the whole photo doing "airbrushing" and then fine detail. But there are lighting problems with the inside of the mans fluffy vest who's roasting a marshmallow. His hand is too bright white. It also looks like a person has been cut out of the picture on the left because of the sharp shadow - but I think that is their attempt at making it look like the "fire" is casting a strong light on the girls blanket.
My, that fire is sure throwing off white light.

Just thinking about going to an assembly.. is..full.. of...memories of humid women's bathrooms that reeked, dragging books and food up the stairs in heels, watching the "foreign" language sisters "humbly" walking around in their pastel india garb, children bored and tired in their seats and the freezing cold walk into the facility.
Plus, everything you had to listen to. Glad you got out of it alive.

further they have implemented recurring payments "because the hard part about donating is remembering to donate," they actually said that!
Even if a person dies, the WT will keep withdrawing I bet, until caught.
i have always wondered why there are more females than males in all of the congregations that i have visited?
some of these females are in their 70's so maybe their husbands have died and women just live longer.
or could the reason be that years ago men were the breadwinners and women stayed home to raise the children thus they were home during the week when the jdubs came a knocking?
I guess the other side of the question is why there is less men. Do other religions put pressure on the men to participate in holding mikes, do talks and climb the religious ladder of responsibility? Maybe it's the suits and ties!

this thread is prompted by losch's stupid 'decrees' in the march 2018 broadcast, where he denounced online information that may be 'negative' about the organization.. it strikes me that the gb are so dumb!

i've been physically out since early 2014. before that, i was mentally out for a long period of time.
now, having zero contact with family or former friends, plus living in a southeast asian country where it is possible to not ever see a jw.
since i have discovered this site, i'm learning lots of things about the organization that i wasn't aware of before.
That is from 5 years behind. It occurred to me that if someone had the organizational skills, a time line of the changes would be great.
I'm afraid I don't have a good idea of "when" somethings happened since then, so I'll just guess. (poorly)
All congregations gave their money that they had saved for their kingdom halls to the society. Chaching!
The society now owns all the kingdom halls and sells them off when ever they want to.

In Australia the Royal Commission weighed the WT in their policies of protecting/reporting Child Sexual Abuse and found them lacking. Shockingly lacking. Cases of provable abuse and not a single one reported to the police. Still on going on what is going to happen to the WT.
The WT has broadened out who to shun - it's not just the dis-fellowshipped but also those that go to few/none meetings and the spiritually weak.
Plus it's money money money, can we have your money?
i guess if the jdubs have no clue how long a generation is they also wouldn't know how long a time period the word "soon" refers too.. 60 years ago my mother would hammer into my brain how soon the great tribulation was.
soon jehovah would destroy the wicked.
then a few years later there was no need to go to college because the end was so soon.
Didn't the society use that illustration of children asking their parents "how soon are we going to get there?" To a child, a short trip can seem like a looonnnng time. That is how it is with us. We just have to be patient and wait on Jehovah..... or something to that effect.
Telling my mother, I wasn't supposed to graduate high school, get a job etc. falls on deaf ears. At her age, soon isn't soon enough.

the next time i see the jdubs standing or sitting by their carts sipping their coffee lattes or updating their facebook pages, i am going to approach them with the following thought process acting as an interested person.. do jw's believe the end is near?.
do you consider your preaching work to be urgent?.
why do you just let people walk by if their very lives are at stake?
I was at a shopping mall yesterday and as I was driving by a fabric store, I saw a group of witnesses siting about 15' from the entrance. 1 sister, 3 brothers. All bundled up and freezing in the late afternoon windy rain. They had a cart on one side of them and one on the other side. With hands tucked under their arms, they joked and laughed.
No one was remotely interested. I guess you could say that the world at large was shunning them. People hurried by like they were a homeless contingent. What a waste of time.
